The varsity football team made history on Friday night with a 33-13 victory over the Miamisburg Vikings. This win marked the 500th in program history, which dates back to 1948. The Elks improved to 4-3 overall and 3-1 in the Greater Western Ohio Conference (GWOC), now tied for first place with three other teams.

The game started with Centerville receiving the ball, but the offense went three-and-out despite great field position. However, senior Leland Gantz launched a well-placed punt that was downed at the Miamisburg 1-yard line. On the Vikings' first offensive play, the Elks' defense sacked the quarterback in the end zone for a safety, giving Centerville an early 2-0 lead.

Junior Parker Johnson added to the Elks' momentum by breaking free for a 44-yard touchdown on the next possession, extending the lead to 9-0 with 10:09 remaining in the first quarter. Shortly after, Ziere Alston intercepted a Vikings' pass, setting up another quick scoring drive. Johnson found the end zone again with a 1-yard touchdown, putting the Elks ahead 16-0.

The Elks' defense continued to dominate, forcing another Miamisburg punt. On the following drive, Gantz nailed a 48-yard field goal, making it 19-0. The scoring spree continued when junior quarterback Shane Cole ran 54 yards for a touchdown, widening the gap to 26-0 late in the first quarter.

As the first half drew to a close, Cole added another 1-yard touchdown, capping an 80-yard drive and giving the Elks a commanding 33-0 lead at halftime. The Elks outgained Miamisburg 230-26 in the first half.

In the second half, Coach Ullery gave the backup players a chance to get some action, and the Elks coasted to a 33-13 victory. The team came away healthy and ready to host Northmont on October 11th for their homecoming game at 7 p.m. Tickets are available online (no fees) at The game will be streamed live for $10 at
