Girls Cross Country Grabs Last Qualifying Spot For OHSAA State Meet

The Girls Cross Country team delivered an impressive performance at the OHSAA Regional Meet held at Troy Memorial Stadium, finishing in 5th place. This top-5 finish earned the Elks a spot at the State Championship meet, which will take place next Saturday at Fortress Obetz in Obetz, OH. The girls will compete at 2:45 pm.

Leading the way for the Lady Elks was Mia Fry, who ran an outstanding race, placing 15th overall with a time of 19:05. Other key runners for the team included Ella Buckingham, who finished 40th with a time of 19:57, and Claire Drylie, who placed 42nd, finishing in 20:01. Shayda Hart came in 50th at 20:08, followed by Meredith Drylie in 56th with a time of 20:22, Elena VonHandorf in 58th at 20:23, and Chloe Sorensen in 66th with a time of 20:33.

With this strong showing, the Elks have secured their chance to compete against the best teams in Ohio at the State meet. Tickets for the State meet are available online at or can be purchased with cash at the gate. Ticket prices are $15 for adults and $10 for students.
