The Varsity Football team showed up ready to play in the first round of the OHSAA Playoffs, beating Beavercreek 42-0 at home on Friday night. With a strong game plan from Coach Ullery and his staff, the Elks avoided the common pitfall of underestimating an opponent. Instead, they played one of their most dominating games of the season.

The Elks’ defense shut down Beavercreek completely, allowing only 72 total yards and just three first downs. This outstanding performance held Beavercreek scoreless and gave Centerville’s offense plenty of chances to score. On offense, the Elks earned 19 first downs and piled up 437 yards.

Junior running back Parker Johnson was unstoppable in the first half, scoring four touchdowns and rushing for 98 yards on 15 carries. After his impressive first-half performance, Johnson sat out the second half, giving his teammates a chance to shine.

Junior quarterback Shane Cole led the offense with skill, making smart plays and showing his usual calm under pressure. He completed 12 of his 15 passes for 154 yards and threw one touchdown. Cole’s top target, senior JP Mercer, caught two touchdown passes, including a 27-yard pass from Cole and a 28-yard pass from sophomore Gavin Nolan.

On defense, Andrew Erwin was a force with six tackles, and Jacob Taylor added four tackles of his own. Together, they helped keep the Elks in control of the game from start to finish.

This win pushes Centerville’s record to 8-3 and sends them to the second round of the playoffs. The Elks will host Springboro on Friday, November 8th, at 7 p.m. Tickets are available online at and cost $11 for adults and $5 for students. Streaming details will be announced soon, as the game may be covered by HUDL TV or Spectrum.

The Elks’ next game is sure to be an exciting one, and fans are ready to cheer them on as they continue their playoff run.
