The Varsity Girls Basketball team continued their strong start to the season with an impressive 67-49 win over Columbus Bishop Hartley at home. The Lady Elks showcased a balanced offensive attack and an outstanding defensive effort to secure their second win of the season.
The Elks set the tone early, leading 24-16 at the end of the first quarter. By halftime, they extended their lead to 44-31, thanks to their efficient scoring and teamwork. After the break, the Lady Elks’ defense took control, limiting Hartley to just six points in the third quarter. This dominant performance allowed the Elks to build a commanding 59-37 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Senior Caroline McDowell led the Elks in scoring with 19 points, showing poise and leadership on the court. Junior Halley Boeke followed closely with 15 points, while senior Avery Sarver and junior Bella Keeton added 12 and 10 points, respectively, to round out the balanced offensive effort.
The varsity team now stands at 2-0 on the season. Meanwhile, the JV team faced a tough challenge, falling to Hartley 53-26. However, the Freshmen team celebrated a 36-26 victory over Hartley.
All three Lady Elks teams will return to action on Wednesday, December 4th, at Northmont High School. The Freshmen game starts at 5:00 p.m., followed by JV at 6:15 p.m. and Varsity at 7:30 p.m. Fans can purchase tickets online at or pay cash at the door ($9 for adults, $8 for students).
