Girls Wrestling Team Off to a Competitive Start

The girls’ wrestling team has launched its season with a mix of challenges and impressive performances, proving they are a team to watch as the season progresses.

The Lady Elks began their campaign with a daytime match against Lakota West on Thursday, December 5. Despite a hard-fought effort, Centerville fell to the Firebirds 42-30. The match showcased the team’s resilience and determination, setting the stage for future success.

Success at the Hammer and Anvil Tournament

On Saturday, the Lady Elks traveled to Western Brown High School to compete in the highly competitive Hammer and Anvil Tournament, featuring 48 teams. Centerville finished in an impressive 3rd place overall, a remarkable accomplishment early in the season.

Placers for the Lady Elks:

Lucy Amrine – 1st
Carlee Page – 4th
Chasity Dobson – 5th
Salona Ruth – 5th
Norah Chupp – 5th
Maanasa Miriyala – 6th

Lucy Amrine led the team with a dominant performance, earning a first-place finish and setting the tone for what promises to be a strong season. Carlee Page and other top finishers also contributed valuable points, helping the Lady Elks secure their podium spot.

Building Momentum

The Centerville girls’ wrestling team is proving its potential with a mix of veteran leadership and rising talent. With a strong showing at the Hammer and Anvil Tournament, the team has demonstrated that they are ready to compete with some of the best programs in the region.
