The Girls Varsity Basketball team hit the road Wednesday night to take on Springfield, but the Lady Elks faced a tough challenge. Springfield came out strong, handing Centerville its first loss of the season, 82-48.
Leading the Elks were Bella Keeton, who scored 15 points, while Caroline McDowell and Halley Boeke each added 13. Despite the loss, the Lady Elks now hold a solid 3-1 record for the season.
In the Junior Varsity game, the Elks also came up short, losing 34-30 in a close battle.
Both teams will look to get back on track this Saturday when they host Fairmont at home. The 9th-grade team kicks off the evening at 5:00 p.m., followed by the JV team at 6:15 p.m., and the Varsity game at 7:30 p.m.
