The Centerville Elks boys basketball team faced a tough road test against Springfield on Friday night, coming up short in a hard-fought game, by a final score of 65-60.

The Elks came out on fire, jumping to a commanding 26-13 lead in the second quarter. Their energy and teamwork were on full display as they dominated early. However, Springfield responded with a 19-3 run, flipping the momentum and taking a 32-29 lead into halftime.

Centerville regrouped after the break and regained control in the third quarter. They outscored Springfield and entered the final period with a slim 45-42 lead. Both teams battled fiercely in the fourth quarter, trading baskets and defensive stops. Unfortunately for the Elks, a late technical foul shifted the momentum back to Springfield, making it difficult to complete a comeback.

Eli Greenberg led the Elks in scoring with 19 points. His brother, Ethan Greenberg, added 12 points.

The Elks fall to 3-1, but will look to bounce back in their next game against Fairmont on Tuesday 12/17 at Trent Arena.

In other news, the JV Basketball Team defeated Springfield by a score of 41-24 and the 9th Grade Black Team beat Springfield by a score of 56-32.
