This past weekend, the Centerville High School Elks lit up the indoor track and field scene, delivering standout performances that have set the stage for what promises to be an exhilarating season. With personal bests shattered, school records broken, and state rankings on the rise, the team’s efforts have truly put the spotlight on CHS athletics.

Weight Throwers Take Center Stage

In the weight throw arena, the Elks made a significant impact on the state rankings for both boys and girls.

Kelly impressed everyone by tossing the weight 43’0 ¼”, edging her into the #6 spot in the state by a mere fraction of an inch.
On the boys’ side, Kyle soared to new heights, elevating his mark from 48’1” to an astounding 54’6”, firmly placing him among the elite in Ohio.
High-Flying Girls’ Jump Squad

The girls’ jumpers also delivered with precision and power:

Sophomore Alyssa Grim vaulted over the high jump bar at 5 feet, showcasing her remarkable talent.
Senior Hannah Nicasse left a lasting impression in the triple jump with a robust 31’6” effort.
Distance Runners Set the Pace

The middle-distance team lit up the track with record-breaking performances:

Daniel Emmert catapulted into the top five all-time indoors in the 800m, a feat that will resonate throughout CHS history.
Tyler Swan displayed incredible endurance, clocking a sub-2 minute split in the 4x800m relay, and following up with a strong 2:04 in the open 800m race.
400m Speedsters Rewrite the Record Books

The 400m races were a highlight reel of speed and determination:

Charlie Abate blazed his way to a #5 all-time mark, while Simon Young Linck earned a respectable #6 finish.
On the girls’ side, Sariah Turner and Samaria Williams both delivered powerful performances, with Williams earning a spot as the #2 all-time performer in CHS history.
Lightning-Fast Sprint Squad

The short sprints saw more record-setting moments:

Lauren Jessup Aiken officially joined the prestigious “sub-8.00 club” in the 60m dash, clocking a sharp 7.99 seconds.
Ziere Alston soared into the CHS record books, landing as the #2 all-time performer in the 60m dash with two standout races.
Relay Teams Forge New Records

The relay squads left no doubt about the Elks’ speed and coordination:

The girls’ 4x200m relay team not only clinched first place but also smashed the CHS school record.
Meanwhile, the boys’ 4x200m relay team delivered a strong performance, securing the 5th fastest time in the school’s history.
Looking Ahead

With a weekend packed full of top-10 all-time performances, new school records, and rising state rankings, the Centerville High School Elks are well on their way to an extraordinary indoor season. If these performances are any indication, the team is primed for even greater success as the season unfolds.
