After decades of extraordinary service, Coach Mike Dalton is retiring, leaving behind one of the most accomplished and respected programs in Centerville High School history.
Coach Dalton’s impact on girls golf is simply unmatched. From 2010–2025 as Varsity Head Coach—following years of dedication at the middle school and JV levels—he built a championship culture rooted in discipline, preparation, and character. Under his leadership, the Elks captured 14 GWOC titles, 15 sectional championships, 6 district/regional titles, and earned 11 state tournament appearances, highlighted by the 2022 Team State Championship and 2018 Individual State Championship by Marissa Wenzler. His teams consistently competed at the highest level, finishing state runner-up in 2015 and 2017, placing third at state in 2018 and 2020, and earning a top-10 finish at the 2023 National Championship.
Coach Dalton’s excellence was recognized across the state and region, earning GWOC Coach of the Year honors 11 times, SW District Coach of the Year three times, and being named Ohio and Midwest Coach of the Year in 2021—a testament to the respect he earned from peers and competitors alike.
Beyond the course, Mike Dalton has been a pillar of the Centerville community. A graduate of Monroe High School, Miami University (OH), and the University of Dayton, he devoted himself to education and mentorship—coaching basketball for 25 years and serving as Head of Student Council for 13 years, shaping countless lives far beyond athletics.
Coach Dalton’s legacy is not just measured in trophies and banners, but in the confidence, leadership, and lifelong lessons instilled in generations of student-athletes. His standard of excellence will continue to define Centerville girls golf for years to come.
Thank you, Coach Dalton, for your passion, your leadership, and a career that truly set the gold standard. Elk Pride Never Dies
